beatriz-trujillo-about-me.jpg

I am Beatriz, a freelance illustrator based in Edinburgh since 2017.
My environmental science background took me from my native Spain to Stirling for a 5-month traineeship and I fell in love with Scotland.
My inspiration comes from so many different places: nature, cooking, music, self-care and anything crafty. I enjoy experimenting with a range of materials and techniques, digital and traditional, although one of my favourite materials to work with is gouache!
I love to collaborate with people who put a high value on ethics and have a passion for supporting environmental causes and mental health.

At the moment I am available for editorial commissions and I’m particularly excited to work in branding projects and big-scale murals.

If any of this resonates with you, please don't hesitate to drop me an email!

What inspires your work?
As a creative, I make sure that I fill my creative well, water my creative plant or whatever your preferred metaphor is for actively seeking inspiration and not just waiting until something magic happens out of nowhere. You got to go find the magic yourself!
I find said magic -or inspiration- in nature, cooking, reading, music, self-care and anything crafty I can get my hands dirty with.

What materials do you use?
I like to mix my materials- watercolour, crayons, coloured pencils, hand-printing…but gouache and coloured pencils are my favourites, I find them so versatile and fun. These are my most used:
Gouache: Windsor & Newton.
Coloured Pencils: Faber-Castell Polychromos.
Brushes: I love both a round or a cat’s tongue brush.
Paper: I either use Fabriano or Canson 300gsm watercolour paper, both are vegan and of lovely quality! I use hot-pressed paper if I know I am going to add details with coloured pencils on top but otherwise, I like the texture of NOT paper.
I also love Caran D’Ache Neocolor II water-soluble crayons- incredibly vibrant colours, super versatile, portable and creamy.
Procreate brushes: Vivibrushes
